Tri-City Storm News Release

KEARNEY, NE. - The Tri-City Storm is set for this weekend's home series against the Sioux Falls Stampede at the Viaero Center. Tonight's game is a $5 Kids' Friday, and tomorrow night's contests will serve as the organization's Youth Hockey Night. Puck drop for tonight's matchup is scheduled for 7:05pm CT.

Tri-City (27-21-4-6) clinched a spot in the 2024 Clark Cup playoffs last Saturday night at the Ice Box despite a 2-1 shootout loss to the Lincoln Stars. Cam Briere scored the Storm's only goal during the contest in the final minute of regulation time to secure one point in the standings for the team, and a berth in this year's postseason tournament. Tri-City will now play three of its final four games of this year's sixty-two-game regular season on home ice at the Viaero Center, including both games against Sioux Falls this weekend. The series is a preview of one potential opening-round opponent for the Storm. The Stampede currently trail the Storm by six points in the USHL's Western Conference standings, and enter tonight's game in 5th place. Tri-City has posted a 3-1-1-0 record in five previous games played against Sioux Falls this season. The Stampede has not traveled to the Viaero Center since dropping a 4-1 decision against the Storm on October 20th, 2023. Tri-City dropped a 5-4 overtime decision against Sioux Falls in the team's most recent matchup on January 30th, 2024, at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. Scoring leaders for the Storm entering the final two weekends of the regular season include Trevor Connelly (27), Ryan Smith (23), Cam Briere (21), Artemi Nizameyev (15), August Falloon (15), and A.J. Lacroix (15).

Sioux Falls (26-25-5-1) has posted a 5-4-1-0 record over the past ten games, and enters tonight's game with a 10-20-2-1 record in head-to-head games played against Tri-City during the past five seasons. The Stampede dropped seven of eight games played against the Storm last season, and have won just four of their last sixteen games played in Kearney. Sioux Falls will play four of its last five games on the road, including this weekend's series against Tri-City. The Stampede's last contest was a 5-1 road loss to the Lincoln Stars at the Ice Box on Friday, March 29th, 2024. Sioux Falls' only goal of the battle was netted during the 3rd period on the powerplay by Tyler Borgula. The Stampede will travel to the Tyson Events Center on Sunday for a showdown with the Sioux City Musketeers to complete a three-game weekend on the road. Scoring leaders for the Stampede entering tonight's opening game of the weekend against the Storm include J.J. Wiebusch (27), Tyler Borgula (21), Chase LaPinta (20), and Chris Pelosi (19).

Tonight's game is set to begin at 7:05pm CT and will be streamed on FloHockey and Storm Radio.
