
Storm Rout Stars In Victory, 6-2

LINCOLN, NE - The Tri-City Storm (8-8-4, 20 pts) scored three goals in the third period to pull away from the Lincoln Stars (8-13-0, 16 pts) 6-2 at the Ice Box Friday night. With the win, the Storm snaps a 10-game winless streak and clinches the season series against the Stars with three games remaining.
The Stars scored the opening goal on the power play 10:03 into the first period, as Jon Puskar scored to put Lincoln in front 1-0.
The Storm scored two goals in the last 10-minutes of the period to have the lead going into the first intermission. Andrew Panzrella scored his first goal as a Storm, which was assisted by Anthony DeCenzo and newly acquired, Tucker Brockett.
Brett Mohler scored with 11-seconds left in the opening period on the power play to give the Storm a 2-1 lead. The goal was assisted by Maxwell Tardy, who extends his point streak to four-games.
Lincoln's Dominick Shine would score early into the second period to tie the game at 2-2.
However, Tri-City would take the lead back at the 8:38 mark of the period, as former Star Tucker Brockett scored on the power play. Initially, the goal looked like Tardy's first of the game, but Tardy claimed to have not touched the puck. The goal was assisted by Mohler and Jaden Schwartz.
Tardy would score on the power play in the third period at the 14:00 mark to begin a three-goal third period. Schwartz and Nate Jensen were credited with the assists.
The Storm's Matt Johnson scored a short-handed tally on an empty-net at the 16:03 of the period, which was a clearing attempt that traveled 170-feet into the Lincoln net.
Blake Coleman added a goal for Tri-City two-minutes later to end the scoring at 6-2.
Carsen Chubak (7-6-4) made 29 saves on 31 shots earning the win for the Storm. Matt Green (3-3-0) made 25 saves on 30 shots in the loss for Lincoln.
The Storm on the power play was 3-6, while Lincoln was 1-5 with the man-advantage.
Tri-City returns home to play three straight games, which starts Saturday afternoon against Team USA - U18 squad at 3:05 PM.
