
Storm Return to Action against Stars

Lincoln, NE. - The Tri-City Storm return to action tonight in a rivalry matchup against the Lincoln Stars at the Ice Box. The game will serve as the Stars' Home Opener for the 2020-2021 regular season. Tri-City swept the Sioux City Musketeers and Omaha Lancers last weekend in back-to-back road games. Tonight's game will be the fourth consecutive road game for the Storm. The team will return to the Viaero Center on Thursday for a New Year's Eve matchup against the Stars. Puck drop for tonight's road game against Lincoln is scheduled for 7:05pm.
Tri-City (6-3-0-0) has won four of its last five games and seeks a seventh regular season win in tonight's game. The last time the Storm won seven of its first ten regular season games, the team captured its second Anderson Cup Championship in the 2018-2019 regular season. Last season, the Storm finished the year with a 3-2 record against the Stars. Tri-City holds a 20-11-1-0 record against Lincoln in regular season games played during the last five seasons. The Storm defeated the Stars 3-2 in overtime in the only previous meeting the season between the two teams on November 14th at the Viaero Center. Victor Czerneckianair scored the game winning goal in overtime to secure the victory. Tonight's game is the second game of ten scheduled regular season battles between the Storm and the Stars.
Lincoln (1-4-1-0) is seeking its second win of the regular season in tonight's Home Opener against the Storm. The Stars lone victory to this point in the season came in a 5-4 road victory over the Sioux Falls Stampede on November 28th. The Stars have not played a game since dropping a 6-2 decision to the Fargo Force on December 5th. The Stars have been outscored by a 15-26 margin through the opening six games of the season. Lincoln is currently last place in the league standings and is the only USHL team that has not won multiple games during the regular season. Four of the next five games for the Stars will be played against the Storm. Scoring leaders through the opening six games of the season for the Stars include Zach Urdahl (4), Cole Craft (2), and Aidan Thompson (2).
The Storm return home to the Viaero Center in Kearney on Thursday, December 31st in a matchup against the Lincoln Stars. The team is currently offering "Buy-One-Get-One-Free" tickets to the game.
