Storm, Platte River Radio Finalize Radio Schedule

KEARNEY, Neb. - For the first time in four seasons, the Tri-City Storm will have every regular season game on local radio in the Tri-Cities and have added three preseason games to broadcast in September.

The Storm signed an exclusive deal with Platte River Radio - Classic Hits 98.9 FM (KKPR), The Breeze 94.5 FM (KLIQ), and ESPN Superstation 1460/1550 AM (KXPN, KICS) - to become the Storm Radio Network's home in the 2011-2012 season.

Classic Hits will air a majority of the games with 39 total broadcasts, while The Breeze will air 18 games and ESPN Superstation six games. There are an additional four possible dates this season that the ESPN affiliate could be airing the Storm Radio Network games, which depends on future sporting events on Classic Hits and The Breeze.

All possible playoff games would air on Classic Hits, in the event that the Storm qualify for the 2012 Clark Cup Playoffs in April and May.

"I want to thank Craig Eckert (GM of Platte River Radio), Doug Duda (Sports Director), and the entire staff with Platte River Radio for expanding the coverage for the Storm fans and sponsors," said Skip Berry, director of media relations/broadcasting.

"This is a great arrangement this season for everyone involved, as Platte River Radio continues to be Central Nebraska's premier sports radio home for the Storm, Huskers, and Nebraska prep sports."

In addition to the radio, all games will be streamed online at www.stormhockey.com with a free audio link to the broadcast. Free downloads of every game broadcast will be available through the Platte River Radio stations' websites.

Also, games are available to listen via a smart phone depending on which station is carrying the broadcast of that game through the following links: m.kkpr.com, m.kliqfm.com or m.espnsuperstation.com.

Platte River Radio also owns KHAS 1230 AM in Hastings. KKPR and KLIQ are 100,000-watt signals that can be heard across central Nebraska in a 100-mile radius from the Tri-Cities, while KXPN and KICS are best heard in Kearney and Hastings.
