Tri-City Storm News Release
KEARNEY, Neb. - The Tri-City Storm will take the next step in selecting players for the 2015-16 season next week with the team's annual Tryout Camp in Las Vegas.
Beginning Monday, the week-long event will consist of players between the ages of 16-20.
This year's camp will combine skaters from all backgrounds including returning players, affiliate players from the 2014-15 season, players selected in the 2015 USHL Draft and undrafted players vying for a spot on the roster.
Storm Head Coach and General Manager Jim Hulton will oversee the tryout process, with all events held at the Las Vegas Ice Center.
"I am eagerly awaiting the opening of the 2015 Storm Tryout Camp," Hulton said. "We anticipate a highly competitive environment as players battle for open spots on next year's roster. The success of last season has fueled us to continue our pursuit of a Clark Cup and camp signifies our first step."
Hulton also has an update on his ongoing contract negotiations with the team.
"On a personal note, contract discussions continue to move favorably towards a long term agreement."
Tri-City has seven skaters from last season's roster that are eligible to return, including Nolan Aibel, Wade Allison, Tory Dello, Mattias Goransson, Jason Krych, Dan Labosky and Jake Wahlin.
In addition, affiliate players who saw USHL action last season such as Austen Long, Jack McNeely, Carson Meyer, Sam Sternschein and Bryan Yoon are expected to challenge for a full-time spot with the team.
Other affiliates expected to attend camp include forwards Adam Goodsir, Monte Graham, Brian Hawkinson, Johnny McDermott and John Sladic, along with defenseman Brandon Schuldhaus and goaltender Jake Kielly.
Storm staff will also get a chance to evaluate draft picks from May's USHL Draft, including first round choices Reilly Walsh and Alex Limoges, as well as Nico Sturm.
The prospective players will be divided into eight teams, and Hulton's staff will select two all-star squads to play games on June 19 and 20.
At the conclusion of the tryout process, the Storm will submit a 30-man roster to the league in July.
