Tri-City Storm News Release

KEARNEY - The Tri-City Storm of the United States Hockey League will begin it's tryout camp in Bloomington, Minn. on Friday afternoon in preparation for the team's seventh season in central Nebraska. A total of 71 players will participate in the preseason tryout camp that runs June 2-4 at the Bloomington Ice Garden.

The camp, that starts Friday with registration and two round robin games, will feature nine players from the 2005-06 roster that went 28-23-9 and reached the Clark Cup playoffs for the third straight year. Familiar faces at camp will include third-year defenseman Greg Battani, forward Sean Wiles and forward Matt Ambroz.

"I've grown accustomed to the type of players that Tom (Rudrud), Richie (Larson) and Charlie (Graves) bring to camp," Littler said. "This is my first chance to see some of the kids and after the draft it's our second step towards building the team for next season."

The three-day camp schedule includes a round robin tournament on Friday and Saturday with the rosters being trimmed to 40 players on either Saturday night or Sunday morning. The remaining players will participate in two All-Star games on Sunday. The Storm coaching staff will then have until July 1 to trim those remaining players down to 25.

"With the way our division is shaping up there are a lot of returning players and we've already got some power forwards. In camp we've got some players that were skill guys at the high school and midget level, but now we have to determine if they can do that at the junior level," Littler said.

Additional tryout camp notes:

- Of the Storm's 15 picks in the May 2006 draft, 13 will be participating in this weekend's camp.

- Nine former Tri-City Storm players will be in Bloomington for the weekend. Storm veterans Mario Lamoureux and Jordan Willert will not be participating in tryout camp.

- The Bloomington Ice Garden, where camp is being held, is the same place that the 1980 U.S. Olympic team began practicing the year they won the gold medal.
