Storm Goes Wire To Wire For 2nd Straight Road Win
November 23, 2014 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
Island Storm News Release
(Charlottetown, PE) Playing their 6th road game in a row, the Island STORM may have played their best game of the season beating the Saint John Mill Rats 113-99 Sunday afternoon At Harbour Station in the New Brunswick Port City, pushing their season record to 3-4 and tied with Saint John.
The STORM scored early and often, hanging 37 points on the scoreboard in the 2nd quarter alone to take a 62-38 lead at halftime. At one point in the 2nd quarter the STORM were shooting 60% from the floor and over 40% from the 3 point line. The team ended the game shooting over 51% from the floor.
There were a lot of minutes to go around as the STORM came into the game short-handed. Doug McKinney was placed on the IR last week while Avery Smith and Billy Rush are still waiting for their paperwork to clear. That left the STORM with just 9 players forcing Brandon Robinson and Sammy Zeglinski to play about 39 minutes each in the game, Mike Williams 35 minutes, and Louis Birdsong 33. It didn't seem to matter though as the STORM were consistent throughout the game with Nick Evans the only STORM player to get into foul trouble.
Brandon Robinson was solid for the STORM scoring 27 points on 10-16 shooting including 5-9 from the 3 point line. He had a double-double with 11 rebounds and added 7 assists. Louis Birdsong had his best game in a STORM uniform scoring 25 points on 11-17 shooting and added 7 rebounds. Sammy Zeglinski was also impressive again with 22 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists from the point guard position. He also had the task of guarding former NBL scoring champ Anthony Anderson, who scored just 8 points in the first half. Anderson did get untracked in the second half for Saint John finishing with a game high 32 points. Mill Rats Kenny Jones scored 16 before fouling out in the game.
The STORM continue on the road Saturday November 29th in Halifax before getting back on home court Sunday November 30th at 2pm at Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown against the Mill Rats.
STORM season tickets are still on sale at the Eastlink Centre Box Office and anyone who purchased a single game ticket for the home opener can use the cost of that ticket toward the purchase of a season ticket for the final home games.
The STORM also has a merchandise corner at Sherwood BMR on Mount Edward Road in Charlottetown with a great selection of STORM Gear. Fans may purchase STORM Gear at Sherwood BMR to get ready for the next home game or for Christmas gift buying.
