Saint John Riptide News Release

(Saint John, NB): After a tough road trip to Ontario, the Saint John Mill Rats returned home in time to face a determined Island Storm squad they could not solve, losing 113-99 at Harbour Station.

The Mill Rats last lead of the game was 14-12 before an Island Storm run of 13-2 end the first quarter with them on top. It was more of the same in the second quarter with the team from P.E.I. leading 62-48 at the break.

Saint John rallied to within 11 at 81-70 but could not get any closer in the second half.

The Mill Rats were without the services of 5'5 point guard Aquille Carr who was serving a 1 game suspension by the league for action after Thursday's game at Mississauga. Carr is returning to Baltimore on a leave of absence following the tragic passing of a relative.

"We came out flat and for whatever reason the effort and unity wasn't there, particularly on the defensive end." said Mill Rats Head Coach Julian King. "We have almost now at home to recover and get back in the laboratory to figure it out."

Anthony Anderson led all scores with 34 points. Brandon Robinson had 27 for the Storm.

The Mill Rats are now 3-4 on the season, and face the Moncton Miracles next Saturday night at Harbour Station. The Island Storm is also 3-4.
