Storm Get Early Easter Present

March 22, 2013 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
Summerside Storm News Release

(Summerside, PE) When the Summerside STORM open up their first NBL Playoff series in franchise history this Sunday afternoon at 2pm at Credit Union Place, fans will be in for a surprise. Al Stewart, who left two weeks ago to take a fulltime teaching job in his hometown of Chicago, has decided to spend his spring break on PEI and will be back in a STORM uniform Sunday.

Timing is everything and Al Stewart got back to teaching in Chicago just in time for spring break and this allows him to come back to Summerside and play the opening two games of the STORM semi-finals against Windsor along with games 3 and 4 (if needed) in Windsor.

Stewart had been (and still is) the face of the STORM franchise over two seasons and a team leader among the players. The top defensive player of the year last season, Stewart was having another fine year as he is third in the league in steals and fourth in assists. With Stewart back in the fold the STORM are flush at the point guard position with Josiah Turner playing really well and newcomer Royce Parran getting the STORMS second only triple-double in the last regular season game. Of course, Al Stewart had the other triple-double.

The STORM open up semi-finals at home Sunday afternoon at 2pm against Windsor with game 2 in the series Tuesday night at 7pm at Credit Union Place. The seriesthen moves to Windsor for two games and if a 5th and deciding game is needed it will be played back on PEI Tuesday April 2 at 7pm.

STORM playoff tickets are on sale at the Credit Union Place box office or by going online at www.stormbasketball.ca. Fans can also call 902-432-1234.
