Storm Falls to the Lynx in Game 1 of the Playoffs, 80-64

MINNEAPOLIS - The Seattle Storm fell to Minnesota 80-64 in Game 1 of the 2013 WNBA Playoffs Friday night at the Target Center.

The two teams traded baskets throughout the first quarter, with the Lynx taking a one-point lead after one, 16-15. Minnesota put together a mini run in the second, getting ahead of Seattle 26-19, but the Storm battled back to pull within four at the half, 40-36, on 52% shooting from the field. After the break, the Storm shooters cooled off as the Lynx extended its lead. After a hot first half, the Storm shot 38% in the second period and wasn't able to get back into the game.

The Storm was led by Temeka Johnson with 14 points and four assists. Tanisha Wright, who earlier in the day was named to her fourth WNBA All-Defensive First Team, added 13 points and four assists. Alysha Clark provided a spark for the Storm, coming off the bench to get a career and season high 12 points. Tina Thompson had 10 points and eight rebounds.

Seimone Augustus led all scorers with 19 points on 9-15 shooting. Rebekkah Brunson added 18 points to go along with nine rebounds. Maya Moore chipped in 17 points and dished out six assists.

Game 2 will be played on Sunday, Sept. 22 at the Tacoma Dome at 2 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN2. Game 3, if necessary, will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 24 with game time still to be determined.
