Milwaukee Wave News Release

MILWAUKEE (Dec. 14, 2007) - Branko Savic's goal with 2:29 remaining gave the Chicago Storm an 8-6 victory over the Milwaukee Wave on Friday at U.S. Cellular Arena in a matchup of I-94 rivals for first place in the MISL.

Chicago (7-1) hosts the Wave (6-3) tonight at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Ill., in a rematch.

The Wave held a 6-2 lead early in the third quarter, as Marcio Leite made a gorgeous move and then worked a give-and-go with fellow Brazilian Deco for Leite's 10th goal of the season. Leite also had an assist to lead the Wave offensively.

Randy Soderman scored 2 minutes later, getting free on a nice individual move, to begin the Storm's comeback. He tied the game with 8:35 left in the third on a blistering volley. Chile Farias assisted on that goal and also was responsible for the game-winning assist. Both goalkeepers played a sparkling game. Nick Vorberg had 14 saves for Milwaukee and Jeff Richey totaled 16 for the Storm. Milwaukee killed off a pair of power plays and Chicago handled the only one it faced.

Greg Howes scored the first Wave goal on his fifth restart marker of the year, a screamer from the top of the arc that Richey was ready for but still couldn't prevent.

After Saturday's contest in Chicago, the Wave play next at 1 p.m. Dec. 31 against Detroit in the annual New Year's Eve game. It's a Family Four-Pack game, and fans can get four tickets, four hot dogs and four sodas for $60. The package must be pre-ordered; call (414) 224-9283 to get in on the great deal. .
