
Storm Drop Preseason Contest to Stars

Sioux City, IA. - The Tri-City Storm dropped a 5-2 decision to the Lincoln Stars Sunday afternoon at the Tyson Events Center. Cole O'Hara and Gavin Brindley each netted goals for the Storm in the loss. Goaltenders Owen Millward and Austin Schwab both saw time in goal during the game. Millward made 11 saves on 15 shots during the opening two periods of the game. Austin Schwab made 7 saves on 8 shots in Sunday's 3rd period. Tri-City dropped to 1-2-0-0 in preseason play and will return to action on Thursday in a road exhibition game against the Omaha Lancers.
With just over four minutes to play in Sunday's 1st period, Lincoln's Jack Larrigan netted his first goal of the preseason to give the Stars a 1-0 lead over the Storm. With less than one minute to play in the 1st period, Cole O'Hara recorded his first goal of the preseason to tie the game at 1-1. Lincoln outshot Tri-City 6-4 in the 1st period and the game entered the 2nd period in a tie.
Lincoln scored three unanswered 2nd period goals to take a 4-1 lead over the Storm. The first goal of the 2nd period was netted by Jack Silich at 8:28 of the period. Luke Laylin scored his first goal of the preseason quickly following Silich's goal to give the Stars a two-goal lead. Marcus Marcellus scored his second goal of the preseason at 12:32 of the 2nd period to push Lincoln's lead to three goals. Each team recorded 9 shots on net in Sunday's 2nd period.
Gavin Brindley netted his second goal of the preseason at 11:36 of the 3rd period to cut Tri-City's deficit in the game down to two goals. Nate Benoit recorded the lone assist on the goal. Less than two minutes later, at 13:06 of the 3rd period, Gleb Veremyev scored his first goal of the preseason to give the Stars a 5-2 lead in the game. Tri-City outshot Lincoln 11-8 in the 3rd period but dropped Sunday's game.
