Storm Defeat Mill Rats at Home

(Saint John, NB): The Saint John Mill Rats presented by Rogers, lost their battle to hold first place in the Atlantic Division Saturday night over the Summerside Storm in front of 1,977 fans at Harbour Station. Final score was 114-97.
The Storm blew out of the gates hard gaining an early lead. The Mill Rats were able to tie the game with just over 5 minutes left in the first quarter but could not hold the Storm back from crashing the boards offensively and defensively. They closed the first trailing 27-17.
The second quarter was a close scoring match to the first and the Storm closed the half with a three pointer from Chris Cayole, leading 55-35.
The third quarter, the Mill Rats were able to chip away at Summerside's lead with some clutch three pointers from Jerice Crouch but they were quickly answered by Cayole who continued to drain threes against the Mill Rats.
The Mill Rats were able to outscore the Storm in the third, 22-31, but still trailed behind going into the last quarter, 77-66. The third quarter also marked the 1,000 point mark of Anthony Anderson's National Basketball League of Canada career.
The last quarter, the Storm blew past the Mill Rats closing the game 114-97. They shot 74% from the three point line compared to Saint John's 35%.
Leading the Mill Rats was Jerice Crouch with 28 points and Anthony Anderson with 12. The Storm were led by Chris Cayole and Antonio Ballard each contributing 23 points.
The Mill Rats fall to 11-10 on the season while the Storm rise to 12-9, taking first place in the Atlantic Division.
