
Storm Complete Sweep of Stampede

SIOUX FALLS, SD. - The Tri-City Storm completed a two-game sweep of the Sioux Falls Stampede in a 4-1 victory at the Denny Sanford Premier Center on Sunday. Lleyton Roed, Christian Fitzgerald, Dane Dowiak, and Tanner Adams each netted goals in the game for the Storm. Arsenii Sergeev recorded the win in goal for Tri-City.
JP Turner scored a shorthanded goal at 9:01 of the 1st period to give Sioux Falls a 1-0 lead in the game. Turner's goal was his second of the season and was assisted by Jack Reimann and Max Rud. Tri-City outshot Sioux Falls 10-6 in the 1st period but trailed by one goal entering the 2nd period. The Storm held a 1-4-0-0 record when trailing after the 1st period this season prior to Sunday's game.
The only goal scored in the 2nd period was netted by Lleyton Roed at 13:18 of the period. Roed's goal was scored even strength and tied the game at 1-1. Aiden Dubinsky recorded his fourth assist of the season on the scoring play. Shots on goal were 9-9 in the 2nd period.
With less than seven minutes to play in Sunday's game, Christian Fitzgerald scored his fifth goal of the season to break the tie and give the Storm a 2-1 lead. Fitzgerald's goal was netted at 13:27 of the 3rd period and was assisted by Graham Gamache and Mason Wheeler. The assist for Gamache was his ninth of the year. Wheeler's assist was his third of the season. Less than two minutes after Christian Fitzgerald netted the go-ahead goal for Tri-City, Dane Dowiak scored his second goal of the season to increase the Storm's lead to 3-1. Dowiak's goal was scored at 15:17 of the 3rd period and was assisted by Lleyton Roed. Roed's assist was his sixth of the year. The final goal of Sunday's game was scored into an empty net by Tanner Adams with less than 30 seconds left to play. Adam's goal was his sixth of the season and was scored at 19:34 of the 3rd period. Ilya Nikolaev and Jeremy Wilmer each recorded an assist on the scoring play. Nikolaev's assist was his 13th of the season. Wilmer notched his 18th assist of the year on the scoring play. Tri-City outshot Sioux Falls 11-7 in the 3rd period and 30-22 overall in the game.
Arsenii Sergeev improved to 13-2-0-0 in the victory after making 21 saves on 22 Stampede shots. Isak Posch recorded the loss in goal for Sioux Falls after he stopped 26 of Tri-City's 29 shots on goal. (+1 Empty Net). Tri-City continues to lead the USHL's Western Conference with a record of 17-4-1-0. The Storm's .795% winning percentage is currently the best in the league. Tri-City improved to 2-1-0-0 against Sioux Falls this season in the victory.
