
Storm Comeback Falls Short as Mill Rats Tie Series at 1

(Charlottetown, PE) Trailing by as much as 16 in the 2nd half, the Island STORM fought their way back to take the lead in the 4th quarter only to lose 104-97 Saturday night at Harbour Station in Saint John to the Mill Rats who tied the best of 5 first round playoff series at one game apiece.
The Mill Rats had a 59-46 lead at halftime but the STORM won the 3rd quarter to draw to within 6 points at the end of 3. It went back and forth late in the 4th quarter until the Mill Rats took control from the foul line for the win.
Rashad Whack scored 19 points to lead the way for the STORM while Billy Rush scored 18 to go with 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Nick Okorie scored 14 and handed out 8 assists with Louis Birdsong scoring 14.
Kenny Jones earned a double-double for the Mill Rats with 21 points and 11 rebounds as Anthony Anderson scored 19 and handed out 7 assists.
The Mill Rats had a fine shooting night at 50% from the floor and 41% from 3 point range while the STORM shot 43% from the floor and only 22% from the 3 point line.
Game 3 in the series goes Sunday afternoon back in Charlottetown at Eastlink Centre at 2pm with the Eastlink Centre Box Office opening at 11am Sunday morning.
The finals of the Loto Max presents Cavendish Beach Music Festival Island Idol Contest goes Sunday during halftime of Game 3.
The finalists include: Taylor Sonier/Kendal Paugh, Kenzie Whalen, Kyle Sherren, and Bridgette Blanchard. Each will be performing one song and fans will vote for the winner who will perform at the Cavendish Beach Music Festival, one of the biggest music festivals in the country. This is a wonderful opportunity for these young artists to enhance their careers by performing at this music festival that draws thousands of music fans to Prince Edward Island during the summer.
This Sunday is also the Island STORMS Annual Easter Seals game. 2015 Easter Seals Ambassador Jacob MacNeill will be part of the games Ceremonial Tip Off and the Easter Seals Committee will be in attendance.
