Tri-City Storm News Release
KEARNEY - The Tri-City Storm of the United States Hockey League announced this week that the organization will hold a "Cans for the Kitchen" campaign at two home games prior to the Thanksgiving holiday.
Fans attending Storm games on Saturday, Nov. 18 and Wednesday, Nov. 22 can participate in the "Cans for the Kitchen" campaign by donating canned food items. All food generated on those nights will be given to the University of Nebraska at Kearney's Campus Kitchen Project.
Storm corporate partners, the Nebraska Lottery and the Big Apple Fun Center, will reward participants with prizes for their donations. Students handling UNK's Campus Kitchen Project will be on hand to collect fans' donations.
The Campus Kitchen Project is an emerging leader in anti-hunger programs on college campuses around the country. The Campus Kitchen Project, which began at the University of Nebraska at Kearney during the summer of 2006, attempts to help recycle unserved food from dining halls and then turn it into nourishing meals for the less fortunate. The Campus Kitchen Project is currently in 10 schools around the country.
