OMAHA, Neb. - With the Kansas City Royals finalizing their 2015 Opening Day Roster, the preliminary roster for the 2015 Omaha Storm Chasers has also been released. The 25 players included features 14 players who appeared with the 2014 Triple-A National Championship team.
Nine of the 14 returning players for the Chasers are pitchers, including 2014 Omaha Pitcher of the Year/PCL Playoffs Most Valuable Player Aaron Brooks and 2014 Royals Minor League Pitcher of the Year Christian Binford. Other Omaha alumni are Scott Alexander, Buddy Baumann, Casey Coleman, Louis Coleman, Chris Dwyer, Michael Mariot and Clayton Mortensen.
New pitchers are Joe Blanton, Brian Broderick, Brian Flynn, Joe Paterson and Yohan Pino.
Headlining returning position players is 2014 Royals Minor League Hitter of the Year and 2014 Omaha Player of the Year Whit Merrifield. Other Omaha alumni are infielders Cheslor Cuthbert and Matt Fields, catcher Francisco Pena and outfielder Brett Eibner.
New position players are catcher J.C. Boscan, infielders Orlando Calixte, Ryan Jackson and Gabriel Noriega, as well as outfielders Reymond Fuentes and Moises Sierra.
The Opening Day Roster for the 2015 Omaha Storm Chasers will be finalized as the first game of the season at New Orleans on April 9 approaches. Fans can get the first look at the new team at "Chasers Showcase" this upcoming Tuesday on April 7 from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. at Werner Park.
