
Storm Alumni Update: Union's Vecchione Explodes, NCAA Freshmen Impress

Kearney, Neb. -Tri-City Storm alumni have put up impressive offensive performances over the past week. In this Storm alumni update, we highlight the top outputs by Storm players at the NCAA level.
College Hockey Michael Vecchione goes for four goals and five points - Union College The Union College Captain erupted for a combined six goals and eight points in two non-conference victories against Niagara and RIT. Vecchione earned ECAC Player of the Week honors.
Saturday vs. Niagara, the 5-foot-10, 195-pound forward tallied a career-best four goals and an assist. Just 24 hours earlier, Vechionne completed a then-season-high three-point night against RIT.
Vecchione (TC 2011-13) leads the Dutchmen with eight goals and 13 points in six games. Last season, he had nine goals and 29 points in 34 games.
Union has a home-and-home with RPI this weekend.
Jake Wahlin's OT winner - #10 St. Cloud State The freshman Wahlin (TC: 2014-16) scored the overtime-winning goal at Friday against #7 Minnesota and St. Cloud State swept the weekend against their in-state foes.
Wahlin is tied for second on the squad with two goals and third on the Huskies with three points. He has moved up to the team's top line. The 2016 Clark Cup Champion also scored in his first collegiate game at Minnesota State on October 14.
Carson Meyer's "helping" weekend - Miami The Redhawks freshman dished a combined four assists in two weekend wins for Miami against Maine. The efforts included a career-best three-assist night Saturday against the Black Bears.
Meyer (TC: 2015-16) is second on the Redhawks with four assists and tied for third with five points. Last season, the 5-foot-11, 185-pound forward led Tri-City with 32 regular season goals (4th in USHL) and erupted for five goals and 11 points in 11 Clark Cup Playoff games.
Tri-City is next in action on Friday, October 28 at Fargo. After matching the Force for a pair of weekend games, the Storm returns home to face Omaha on Friday, November 4 for Social Media Night, presented by the Nebraska Lottery. Friday is a $5 Kids Friday; all kids 12 and under receive a voucher for a free soft taco and soft drink at Kearney Taco Bell.
