Tri-City Storm News Release
KEARNEY, Neb. - The Tri-City Storm have acquired defenseman Greg Johnson from the Sioux City Musketeers for a conditional draft pick in the 2012 USHL Entry Draft.
Storm General Manager and Head Coach Drew Schoneck made the announcement Thursday afternoon.
"We are excited to get Greg from Sioux City," said Schoneck. "Adding a veteran defenseman solidifies the defensive unit, and we are eager to get him in the Storm lineup."
Johnson, who turns 19 years old in a week, played in only 24 games last season for the Musketeers due to a couple of injuries. The 6-foot-3 and 185 pound rearguard grew three inches in height over the last year and was subjected to light workouts for most of last season while rehabbing upper body injuries.
After playing his midget major hockey for the Dallas Stars U18's, the native of McKinney, Texas was drafted by Sioux City in the third round (36th overall) of the 2010 USHL Entry Draft. In two seasons with Dallas, he accumulated 27 points (12 goals, 15 assists) and 66 penalty minutes in 94 games in the Tier I league.
Season tickets for the 2011-12 season are on sale now. Call the Storm hockey office today at 308.338.8011 for more information or visit www.stormhockey.com.
