Charlotte Stone Crabs News Release
DUNEDIN, Fla. - The Charlotte Stone Crabs saw their win streak snapped at seven games Friday, as the Dunedin Blue Jays turned in a two-hit shutout in a 9-0 defeat at Dunedin Stadium.
The Stone Crabs' (58-48, 24-15) recent winning streak was their longest of the season. Friday was just the fifth time all season that Charlotte had been held scoreless.
Blue Jays (58-51, 27-14) starter Zach Logue turned in six scoreless innings of one-hit baseball, striking out eight while walking just one.
With the game scoreless in the bottom of the fourth, Riley Adams walked before Alberto Mineo doubled to center with two outs to give Dunedin a 1-0 lead. Ivan Castillo then cranked an RBI double off the left field wall to make it 2-0.
After the Blue Jays made it 3-0 in the fifth, Riley Adams doubled to right center to start the sixth against Stone Crabs starter Kenny Rosenberg (9-2). After an intentional walk, Nash Knight dropped an RBI single to right to make it 4-0 Dunedin. After a pitching change, a fielding error allowed another run to score to make it 5-0. After a walk loaded the bases with one out, Zack Mozingo hit Josh Palacios with a pitch to force home a run and make it 6-0. The next batter was Logan Warmouth, who singled up the middle to cap the inning at 7-0.
The Blue Jays plated two runs in the seventh to finish the scoring at 9-0.
Utility man Miles Mastrobuoni pitched the final 1.1 innings, allowing one hit.
The Stone Crabs will look to level the series at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Jose Mujica (1-0, 4.70) makes the start for Charlotte against Yennsy Diaz (3-4, 3.84) of Dunedin. Coverage begins at 6:15 p.m. on the Stone Crabs Baseball Network.
