STONE CRABS SHUT OUT FROGS 3-0

The Stone Crabs notched their ninth shutout of the season Thursday, completing a rain-shortened 3-0 blanking of the Florida Fire Frogs. The victory completed a four-game sweep and extended Charlotte's longest winning streak of the year to seven as they travel to take on the top team in the North in Dunedin.

CLUTCH CRABS

In the midst of their longest winning streak of the year (7 games), the Stone Crabs continue to fare much better in close games lately than they did earlier in the season. The Stone Crabs entered June 9 with a 4-12 record in one-run games. Since then, they've gone 14-8 in games decided by two runs or less, walking off on their opponent five times.

BEST MONTH EVER

The Stone Crabs completed their best month in franchise history Tuesday, finishing the month of July with a franchise-best record of 19-8. Winning the final five games of the month, the previous record was 18-9, which Charlotte did in June 2010 and August 2017.

2 - Dunedin +35

3 - Palm Beach +29

4 - Lakeland + 25

ABOVE THE FRAY

Stone Crabs outfielder Jake Fraley has done nothing but rake since coming off the DL on June 7. Since July 5, Fraley is batting .500/.529/.761 with nine extra-base hits, 16 RBI, five stolen bases and only four strikeouts in 15 games. For the season, he is batting .463 with runners in scoring position.

DOUBLE DIPPING

The Stone Crabs have hit more doubles (221) than everyone else in the rest of the league by at least 42 (Dunedin - 179). Charlotte's 221 doubles puts them on a pace for 286, which would obliterate the franchise mark of 257 (2011). Tristan Gray is already well within the franchise's single-season leaders:

1 - Michael Sheridan - 38 (2011)

4 - Richie Shaffer - 33 (2013)

5 - Justin O'Conner - 31 (2014)

Stephen Vogt - 31 (2010)
