Stone Crabs pound Hammerheads

JUPITER, FL- The Jupiter Hammerheads dropped their second consecutive game to the Charlotte Stone Crabs by a score of 6-0. Charlotte starter Darin Downs pitched eight scoreless innings to pick up his fifth straight win. He is 5-0 in five starts. He limited Jupiter to only four hits.

Stone Crabs shortstop Matt Hall hit a three run homer in the third inning off of Derell McCall to get things started for Charlotte. First baseman Matt Fields continues to hit Jupiter pitching well and finished two for three. Pedro Powell was three for four with an RBI and a run scored.

Jupiter starter Derell McCall struggled and allowed six earned runs on 11 hits.

The series will conclude tomorrow in a special 10:35 AM start for Education Day at Roger Dean Stadium. Florida Marlins pitcher Andrew Miller will make a rehab start for the Hammerheads. He will look to get Jupiter back on track to help avoid a three game sweep.
