JUPITER, Fla. -- The Charlotte Stone Crabs used a pair of big innings to deal the Palm Beach Cardinals a 7-6 loss on Tuesday at Roger Dean Stadium.

Eight of the nine men in the Charlotte batting order collected at least one hit, with five players turning in two-hit performances. Each of the seven runs was scored by a different Stone Crabs player.

Tuesday's victory extends a season-long five-game road winning streak for the club and allowed Charlotte to move to within two games of the first place Bradenton Marauders in the FSL South Division second half standings.

Charlotte took a 3-1 lead with three runs in the third, but had to battle back after Palm Beach answered with three of its own in the home half of the inning.

After allowing just one hit over seven innings five days ago against Charlotte, Arquimedes Nieto (1-4) was roughed up this time around. The Palm Beach righty surrendered seven runs - all earned - on 11 hits. He walked one and struck out five.

Mike Sheridan's single to center sparked the go-ahead rally in the fifth. A double by Mark Thomas chased in Sheridan to tie things up 4-4. Anthony Scelfo followed with a run-scoring single to plate Thomas with the go-ahead run.

After Scelfo stole second base, Reid Fronk cranked a double into the right field corner to score another run. Alejandro Torres capped the inning with an RBI-single, his first hit as a Stone Crab, which put Charlotte up 7-4.

Michael Jarman (6-4) picked up the win with three scoreless innings in relief of starter C.J. Riefenhuaser. Jarman entered in the fifth and held the Palm Beach bats at bay through the middle innings.

The Cardinals were invited back into the game late. After punching out the side in the eighth, Charlotte righty Scott Shuman walked the first two batters he faced in the ninth before being pulled in favor of closer Josh Satow.

Edgar Lara's double and Alan Ahmady's ground out to short brought those two runners around, but Satow was able to slam the door and convert his 13th save of the season.

Thomas finished the night 1-for-3 with a pair of RBI's, giving him 55 on the season. Hak-Ju Lee, Ty Morrison, Tyler Bortnick, Scelfo and Fronk all finished the game with two hits apiece.

The series continues on Wednesday as righty Alex Koronis (7-6) takes the mound against Richard Castillo (2-3) of Palm Beach. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
