Florida State League Names Pitcher and Player of the Week

The Florida State League named today the Player and Pitcher of the Week for the period August 1 - August 7, 2011.
The Player of the Week was Bradenton Marauders Infielder Elevys Gonzalez. In five games he had 12 hits in 20 plate appearances for a .600 batting average. His hits included two homeruns and one double. He scored six times and drove in 8 runs. His slugging average was .950 and his OBP was .636. Elevys is in his fourth year of professional baseball and resides in Pampatar, VZ.
The Pitcher of the Week was Palm Beach Cardinals Right-hander Arquimedes Nieto. Arquimedes started one game and in seven innings allowed one hit and no runs for a 0.00 ERA. He issued one walk and struck out four batters. He is in his fourth year of professional baseball and his hometown is Panama City, PA.
