Stolen: Mammoth Goalie Gear Taken
May 1, 2014 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth announced on Thursday evening that the equipment of starting goaltender Dillon Ward was stolen this afternoon from outside his residence. The team departs on Friday morning for Calgary, as it's set to take on the Roughnecks on Saturday in the West Division Semifinal of the Champion's Cup Playoffs.
"I've been in the league for 20 years and this is a first," said Mammoth president & general manager Steve Govett. "I don't know who, in their right mind, would want smelly lacrosse goalie gear. Now we're up against a real deadline to try to find a solution and to give Dillon a chance to make his postseason debut."
National Lacrosse League goaltenders typically own only one set of gear. This is the case for Ward, who compiled one of the best rookie seasons of any player in league history. The team is asking for the prompt return of the gear to the Mammoth netminder.
