
Stingrays Add Pair Of Goaltenders On Tryout Agreements

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC- The South Carolina Stingrays, proud affiliate of the Washington Capitals, announced today that goaltenders Greg Lewis and Troy Passingham have been added to the roster on tryout agreements.
Lewis, 25, is a native of Mars, Penn. and just completed his collegiate career at Clarkson University. In his senior season in 2015-16, Lewis appeared in 25 games, going 14-9-2 with a 2.04 goals against average and a .925 save percentage. He was the recipient of Clarkson's Bill Harrison Most Valuable Player award last year. The 6-foot-1, 174-pound netminder landed on the ECAC All-Academic team twice and went 36-40-10 in 92 appearances over four years at Clarkson.
Passingham, 25, stands at 6-foot-5, 220 pounds and is a former Memorial Cup Champion in the junior hockey ranks. In 2009-10, he went 35-10-3, helping the Windsor Spitfires to the Memorial Cup title. Most recently, the big netminder played five seasons for Ryerson University in Toronto, posting an 8-7-0 record during the 2015-16 campaign, with a 2.47 goals against average and a .933 save percentage. At Ryerson, he played in 103 games total, registering a 3.35 goals against average and a .903 save percentage. The Mississauga, Ontario native appeared in one ECHL game with the Florida Everblades in 2011, suffering a loss versus Wheeling. He also signed a 24-hour tryout contract with the NHL's Detroit Red Wings in 2011 but did not dress for any games.
