Sting announce preseason schedule
October 19, 2006 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Arizona Sting News Release
GLENDALE, AZ --- Arizona Sting Head Coach and General Manager Bob Hamley announced Thursday that the Sting will be competing in a pair of exhibition games in December. The Sting will be taking on the National Lacrosse League's Championship Teams from both 2005 and 2006 in the pre-season matches, which both take place in neutral site venues.
The Sting's first exhibition game will take place in Oshawa, Ontario, at General Motors Centre on Friday, December 1. Arizona will be taking on the Toronto Rock in this opening pre-season contest. On Saturday, December 16, the Sting will travel to Utah to play the defending NLL Champion Colorado Mammoth at West Valley City's E Center in the Utah Pro Lacrosse Showcase. The game will mark the first time professional lacrosse has been played in the state of Utah.
"These exhibition games will give us a good opportunity to better analyze and evaluate our roster," said Hamley. "We'll be playing against some quality opponents so we'll really get to see how some of our younger players react to game conditions. It will also give our veterans a chance to gel with the new guys and help us work on systems, special teams scenarios, and a lot of other game situations."
Arizona won their only exhibition contest last season, besting the Minnesota Swarm by a score of 14-10 at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Hagersville, Ontario on December 17, 2005.
The Arizona Sting is a professional indoor lacrosse team playing in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). Their home games are played at the Glendale Arena and their season runs annually from January-April. For more information, please visit www.ArizonaSting.com.
