Sioux Falls Stampede News Release
Sioux Falls, SD-Eric MacAdams tallied a goal and an assist while Ales Stezka earned his first career USHL shutout in goal with 20 saves as the Stampede blanked the Fargo Force 3-0 before 5,582 fans at the PREMIER Center Friday night. The win ended the Force's six-game road winning streak and improved the Herd to 11-9-0 on the season. Lawton Courtnall and Daniel Warpecha also scored for the Herd who have won six of their last eight home games.
After a scoreless first period in which the Herd outshot the Force 10-8, the Herd tailed their first goal in four periods when Eric MacAdams took a loose puck at center ice and skated in on a breakaway where he faked on the backhand and went to the forehand where he tucked the puck under the left pad of Fargo goaltender Ryan Wischow to give the Herd a 1-0 lead at the 5:16 mark. It stayed that way until the 9:58 mark when the Herd added to their lead. MacAdams brought the puck over the Force blue line and sent a pass into the left circle for Lawton Courtnall who raced in and wristed a shot past the stick side of Wischow to give the Herd a 2-0 lead. Ales Stezka was solid between the pipes and shutdown the Force offensive chances. The Stampede would take that lead into the third period, outshooting the Force 9-7 in second.
The Stampede were determined to make sure that 2-0 lead would hold up in the third, playing very strong defensivly and only allowing five shots in goal during the 20 minutes of play. The Herd frustrated the Force offense and drew three penalties in the period, including a penalty shot for Lawton Courtnall that was stopped by Wischow. Still the game remained 2-0 until the final seconds when the Herd sealed it for good on an empty net goal from Daniel Warpecha who beat out two Fargo players for a loose puck to secure the Herd's 11th win of the season.
Sioux Falls outshot the Force 29-21 and finished the night 0-for-3 on the power play while Fargo was 0-for-2. The Herd are now 1-1-0 against the Force this season.
The Stampede return to action Saturday night when they host the Sioux City Musketeers at 7:05 PM. The Herd have teamed up with Arby's to help support Feeding South Dakota and their Backpack Program. There will be a silent auction near the Slap Shot Pro Shop and one lucky fan will win Arby's for a year during chuck-a-puck with proceeds benefiting Feeding South Dakota. Fans can skate with their favorite players right after the game as well for the Be Well South Dakota Post-Game Skating Party. Tickets are available at the PREMIER Center or any Ticketmaster outlet.
