Elmira, NY - The Elmira Jackals were halted by recently acquired Blake Stewart and the Port Huron Flags 2-1 Saturday night at the First Arena
Playing for the only time this season in Elmira, Port Huron took the lead at 12:04 of the first period. Defenseman Jeff Cameron scored from Brett Lutes and Aaron Brand to make it 1-0 Flags.
Elmira out-shot the Flags in the second period 13-to-10 and would equalize with a power play goal at 13:37 when Jarrett Konkle knocked home his tenth goal of the season assisted by Florian Iberer and Chris Chaput.
In the third period, Blake Stewart, who was acquired in a trade with Adirondack this afternoon, scored the game winning goal at 8:51. The goal was a power play goal assisted by Aaron Brand and Trevor Edwards. Elmira out-shot Port Huron 35-29 in the game.
Goaltender Scott Hay earned the win, making 34 saves on 35 shots for the Flags. Jackals goalie Ryan McIntosh made his first start since injuring his right knee, looking very sharp and making 27 saves on 29 shots in the loss.
Sunday Elmira will drive up to Glens Falls for a 5:15 pm matinee with the Adirondack Frostbite to finish off the week. The Jackals are back at the First Arena Friday December 2nd as they host the Kalamazoo Wings at 7:05 pm.
