(Nashua, N.H., August 2, 2008) Nashua Pride starting pitcher Lance Stevens led Nashua to a 4-0 victory over the Worcester Tornadoes, pitching eight shut-out innings, giving up just one hit, while walking four and striking out six, at Historic Holman Stadium on Saturday night.

"I felt probably the best I have felt all season to be honest," Stevens said. "Pretty much everything was working. I have been working on a slider forever and I actually got some people with that tonight. When you've got everything working and you get good defense behind you, it's pretty easy to get outs."

"Lance pitched a great game," said Pride Manager Rick Miller after the game. "When he got in trouble he really hung in there well, he was tough when he had to be... and we got some big hits."

The Pride offense was led by shortstop Sandy Almonte, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Catcher Mike Torres also drove in a run, going 1-for-3 with a double, while left fielder Jerod Edmondson was 1-for-3 with a double and the game winning RBI.

Pride reliever Adam Piechowski pitched the ninth inning, closing out the game by giving up one hit and striking out a pair.

Tornadoes starting pitcher Matt Weagle suffered the complete game loss. He went eight innings, allowing four runs (one earned), on ten hits, one walk and four strike outs. Weagle tossed his fifth complete game of the year, which is tops in the league.

The Pride and Tornadoes will wrap-up their season series on Sunday afternoon, at 1:05pm, when Nashua sends right hander Isaac Burkett (2-2, 3.04) to the hill. Worcester will counter with righty Shaun McNamara (2-8, 6.03).

The Nashua Pride Professional Baseball Club, in its 11th season, provides a fun, affordable, community-based and fan-friendly source of sports entertainment. The 2007 Can-Am League Champions are participating in its third year of play in the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball.
