Columbus Destroyers News Release

COLUMBUS, OH - Columbus-based businessman Steve Germain has joined the ownership group of the Columbus Destroyers of the Arena Football League, it was announced today by team president Dave Whinham. Germain joins managing partners John H. McConnell, who is represented by JMAC, Inc. president Mike Priest, and Jim Renacci along with limited partner Joey Galloway. Additionally, it was announced that the team has redeemed the ownership interest from original franchise owner Mark Hamister.

"The addition of Steve and the Germain family to the Destroyers ownership group complements the foundation of local ownership and further strengthens our organization's ties to the Columbus community," said Mike Priest. "Our entire ownership group has been extremely pleased with the tremendous fan support during this inaugural season and we look forward to long-term success for the Destroyers on and off the field in Columbus."

"When the Germain family was presented the chance to invest in the Destroyers, it gave us a great opportunity to expand our business interests locally while, at the same time, helping to provide a great source of affordable family entertainment to a community that has been so supportive of our family's automobile business," added Steve Germain. "I'm excited about taking an active role in growing this promising franchise which has already become an important new addition to the city of Columbus and the Arena District."

Steve Germain is president and chief executive officer of the Germain Motor Company, a Columbus based automotive retailing business that is the parent company of Germain Arena Sports, LLC. Widely recognized as one of the most successful and respected family owned and operated dealership groups in the country, the Germain family of dealerships includes 14 dealerships in Columbus, Ohio, Sarasota, Florida, and Naples, Florida, and represents manufacturers such as Toyota, Lexus, Honda, BMW, Ford, Nissan, Lincoln Mercury, Acura, Chevrolet, and Mercedes Benz.

Last year, the Germain Motor Company partnered with Clear Channel Communications with a name-in-title sponsorship for the Germain Amphitheater in Columbus.
