Chicago Rush News Release
The Chicago Rush shuffled its roster this week signing lineman Jon McCall to a two-year contract and promoting WR/DB Leo FenceRoy from the team's practice squad to the team's 24-man roster, the team announced today.
To make room on the roster for McCall and FenceRoy, the Rush placed lineman Salem Simon and WR/DB Aundrae Harris on injured reserve.
McCall, (6-2, 290, Central Michigan) released last week by the Detroit Fury, is in his fifth season in the AFL, playing in 46 career games and recording 40 career tackles and 12.5 career sacks with Orlando (2000-2001), Carolina (2002) and Detroit (2003-2004). In five games with Detroit this season, McCall recorded three tackles and one sack before suffering a right knee injury and being placed on injured reserve.
FenceRoy (5-10, 190, Sioux Falls) was originally signed to the team's practice squad on February 24.
"Jon McCall is a great addition to our pass rush," said Rush head coach Mike Hohensee. "He is probably one of the 10 best pass rushers in the league, and his presence will help bolster our line as we make a run in the playoffs this year."
The Rush (8-4) travels to Grand Rapids this week to play the Rampage (1-11) Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Fans in Chicago can listen to Tom Dore and John Jurkovic call the action on ESPN 1000.
The team returns home on Sunday, May 16, at 2 p.m. against the Dallas Desperados. Fans wishing to purchase individual game tickets to the Dallas game, or any Rush 2004 home game, may order by calling Ticketmaster at (312) 559-1212, or by visiting the Ticketmaster Web site at www.ticketmaster.com.
