HFX Wanderers FC News Release

The Canadian Premier League (CPL) announced Thursday that HFX Wanderers Head Coach & General Manager Stephen Hart has been named the 2020 Coach of the Year, presented to the Coach voted to have contributed the most to his Club's all-around performance. The winners of the 2020 CPL Awards were selected by a judging panel comprised of media writers and reporters from across Canada.

In Hart's second year with the Wanderers, he steered his team from a last place finish in 2019 to an impressive second place finish at the Island Games. Hart's team played entertaining football, challenging opponents with a high-intensity style and skillful attack. Having Wanderers representation in each of the 5 CPL Awards categories shows his impact on the team as a whole.

All awards take into account the nominees' performance for the full Canadian Premier League 2020 season from August 13 to September 19, 2020. Hart's category included finalists Bobby Smyrniotis from Forge FC and Mista from Atlético Ottawa.

The CPL awards were announced in a special online presentation hosted by OneSoccer's Andi Petrillo. For more information and photos of the CPL Awards, please visit https://canpl.ca/article/2019-canadian-premier-league-awards-fact-sheet.
