Youngstown SteelHounds News Release
All-Saint's Day:
SteelHounds goaltender David St. Germain had a weekend to remember earning three of a possible four points for his team with a win in Tulsa and overtime loss in Bossier-Shreveport. Friday's win saw St. Germain stop 47 of 49 shots and Saturday's one-point effort was topped off with 33 saves on 37 shots. Five-on-five, St. Germain didn't allow a goal on Saturday night. After this weekends action, St. Germain leads the CHL in saves and is ranked third with a .930 save percentage.
Misita Finds Offensive Touch:
Center Lorne Misita caught fire in the SteelHounds OT loss in Bossier-Shreveport on Saturday night scoring a pair of goals less than four minutes apart in the first period giving Youngstown a 2-0 lead. In the game, Misita blasted a team-high six shots on goal and had numerous other scoring chances.
Lifestyles Of The Rich And The Famous:
Chris Richards made his presence felt in Friday's win at Tulsa scoring three points getting his hand in on all of the SteelHounds goals. The all-star center scored the game winner in the third period after helping on each of the first two goals. His three points led the way for the SteelHounds in the early going.
Penalty Killing Prowess:
Youngstown finished the weekend with one of the top penalty kill percentages in the CHL denying more than 90 percent of the 21 shorthanded chances they faced. In Tulsa on Friday night, the Hounds turned away the Oilers 11 straight times finishing the game perfect. On Saturday night, the Mudbugs scored twice in their first three chances but stopped the next seven power play opportunities. Rob Ouimette scored a shorthanded goal for Youngstown while the team allowed just two power play goals.
One Timers:
- Kris Mallette played in his 300th professional game on Friday in Tulsa
- Shawn Mamane scored the first ever goal in SteelHounds franchise history
- Youngstown leads the CHL averaging over 40 PIM's per game
- Matt Nicholson has assists in each of the Hounds first two games
- Youngstown and Colorado were the only two CHL teams in 14 games to earn a point when trailing heading into the third period this past weekend
