
Steelheads Wrangle Game Three 4-2, Take 2-1 Series Lead

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers® were defeated by the Idaho Steelheads 4-2 in front of 4,076 at the Orleans Arena on Wednesday night in Game Three of the National Conference Semi Finals. With the win, Idaho takes a 2-1 series lead in the best of seven series. Steelheads goalie Steve Silverthorn stopped 32 of 34 Las Vegas shots, including 24 of 25 in the final two periods for the win. Center Marty Flichel scored the eventual game-winning goal just 5:10 into the second period. Las Vegas forwards Adam Cracknell and Nick Anderson each scored in the defeat. Goalie Mike McKenna stopped 17 of 21 Idaho shots in the loss. Game Four is set for Thursday night at 7:05 pm at the Orleans Arena.
In the first period, Idaho opened up the scoring with a power-play goal by Tuomas Mikkonen off a rebound at 5:47 for the 1-0 lead. Las Vegas countered as Nick Anderson scored his second goal of the playoffs at 13:36, tying the game at one goal a side. Idaho took a 2-1 lead before the period ended, Lance Galbraith set up John Lammers fourth goal of the playoffs with only 2:27 remaining in the first period,
In the second period, the Steelheads added to their lead when Marty Flichel scored off a feed from Galbraith at 5:10, extending the Idaho lead to 3-1 after two periods of play.
In the third period, Las Vegas pulled within one as Adam Cracknell blasted a slap shot past Silverthorn at 10:21 of the final period, trimming the Idaho lead to 3-2. Idaho forward B.J. Crombeen beat McKenna at 13:24, pushing the Steelheads lead to 4-2.
