BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads remain perfect on home ice with a convincing 8-2 win over the Long Beach Ice Dogs before 4,772 fans at the Bank of America Centre Saturday night.

Eight different Steelheads scored goals, paced by their defensemen. Idaho's power play unit ranks first in the West Coast Hockey League.

Long Beach got on the board first on a goal by Jeff Attard at the 8:52 mark in the first period. Idaho's Chris Marinucci tallied his 10th goal at 10:24, assisted by Marty Flichel and Scott Swanson, to even the score after one period.

Jeremy Mylymok broke the tie at 16:10 of the second period, assisted by Suchanek and Dan Shermerhorn. Just nine seconds later, Suchanek banked a long shot off the side glass, and the rolling puck caught Long Beach goaltender B.J. Boxma out of position. Rory McDade recorded his second assist in as many games. Late in the second period, Flichel scored off a Jeff Shevalier pass to make the score after two periods 4-1 in favor of Idaho.

Long Beach's Jeff Ewasko scored off Idaho goalie Jason Cugnet's leg to make it a 4-2 game :38 into the final period. Idaho then added four unanswered goals (Swanson, Ben Keup, Shockey and Derrick Atkinson) to complete the scoring.

The Steelheads outshot the Ice Dogs 32-26, and Idaho was 5 for 7 on the power play. Jason Cugnet earned the win to improve his record to 10-4-1.

Idaho improves its season record against Long Beach to 4-0-2, and the teams will complete this three-game series Monday night. The Steelheads will welcome their one-millionth fan to the game. The puck drops at 7:05.
