
Steelheads lose heartbreaker to Mayhem

Gary, IN: The Steelheads ventured to Michigan to take on the Mayhem tonight. The Steelheads were looking to right the ship for new Head Coach Dale Osbourne as new acquisitions Lazarus Sims and Derek Grimm were available for the first time.
The Steelheads pulled out to a 38-28 lead at the end of the first quarter, before dropping the second quarter 30-18. Shelly Clark led the way for the Steelheads with 16 points at the half. Daniel Watts had 12 points. Jimmie ¡§Snap¡¨ Hunter and Lonnie Jones both had 10 points in the opening 24 minutes of play.
The Steelheads came bouncing back in the third quarter, winning 24-23. The quarter was punctuated by a 13-0 run in which Jimmie ¡§Snap¡¨ Hunter had 8 points. The Steelheads continued to pull ahead until the last minute of the ball game when Kevin Sweetwyne and Sam Mack hit back to back three pointers to put the Mayhem up by one. A late Jemeil Rich jumper was off the mark and the Steelheads lost a heartbreaker to the Mayhem 103-102. The Steelheads managed to capture 2.5 points in the loss.
The Steelheads next game is tomorrow January 27th, when the Steelheads take on the Great Lakes Storm in Great Lakes.
