Idaho Steelheads News Release

STOCKTON, CA- The Idaho Steelheads (32-18-4) fell in a shootout by a 2-1 score against the Stockton Thunder (27-26-5) despite taking a 1-0 lead into the third period of play.

Like Saturday night's game, the first period ended in a scoreless tie. Rejean Beauchemin steered away all six Stockton shots he saw in the Idaho net; Andrew Perugini was perfect for Stockton as well, stopping all 12 Steelheads shots sent his way.

Much like last night's game, Garett Bembridge broke the scoreless tie with his 18th of the year, putting the Steelheads up 1-0. At 11:05, Bembridge gave the Steelheads the lead on the power play with Dan Welch and Kory Scoran picking up the assists. The Steelheads outshot the Thunder 30-12 through 40 minutes.

Ryan Huddy tied the game in the third period a power play at 7:22; Cory Urquhart and Sebastien Bisaillon assisted on the goal.

The third period and overtime were unable to decide matters this evening, so to the shootout the two teams went. In the shootout, the Thunder scored three times to the Steelheads' two goals, securing the win.

The Steelheads fall to 4-2 in shootouts this season.

Beauchemin stopped 21 shots in the losing effort for Idaho; his record falls to 13-8-3. Perugini improves to 16-8-2 on the season, stopping 39 of 40.
