Steelhawks Junior Football League Returns Bigger and Better for 2017...
March 30, 2017 - National Arena League (NAL)
Lehigh Valley Steelhawks News Release
Allentown, PA: The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks have run their 12-under Steelhawks Jr. Football League (SJFL) for the past three seasons. This 2017 season will be the league's fourth and its biggest and hopefully best yet; with ten teams, almost 200 kids, and 25 games being played inside the PPL Center on Embassy Bank Field.
What started as a four team league in 2014 more than doubled in size to ten teams from in and around the Lehigh Valley and now almost 200 kids will compete for this year's SJFL 2017 Domino's Pizza Bowl. Each team has a five week season, and will play on Embassy Bank Field inside the PPL Center on game days of the Steelhawks home games with games starting early in the morning and continuing in the afternoon. Last year's Domino's Pizza Bowl Champion, Lehighton Indians, will be back this season to try and defend their title.
This year's Official SJFL sponsors include Lehigh Valley Health Network, Dominos, Spark Ortho, Red Robin, Embassy Bank, Lehigh Valley International Airport, and Wegmans.
The league aims to give local and surrounding youth football programs the opportunity to learn more about the arena football game, the Steelhawks, and provide an awesome opportunity/experience for kids, coaches, and parents that are all involved in the SJFL. All games will take place during the Steelhawks' spring/summer 2017 National Arena League season.
League director and Steelhawks Head Coach is proud of how the league has grown, "It's hard to believe only a couple years ago we had only 4 teams and around 60 kids to where we are at today. It's a credit to all of our wonderful partners, owners, and people that work so hard every year to bring this awesome experience to the youth of the Lehigh Valley community. The 2017 SJFL season kicks off Sunday, April 9th before our rival game against the Columbus Lions inside the PPL Center and it is going to be an awesome thing watching all of these almost 200 kids and 5 games each week with their NEW Phenom Elite jerseys playing Arena Football on Embassy Bank Field."
The league is sanctioned by the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks professional arena football team whose mission will be helping to bring the arena football experience and sportsmanship to the Valley's youth by offering a full contact, tackle football league using an arena rules format. Teams in and around the Lehigh Valley, consisting of 4th- 6th graders or kids 12 and under; can now enjoy the excitement of arena football inside the Hawks Nest, at the PPL Center.
