Quad City Steamwheelers News Release

(Davenport, IA) - The Quad City Steamwheelers announced today that they are moving home games to Friday nights.

"I've already indicated my preference for playing on Friday nights," said Mike Bawden, the Steamwheelers Managing Partner. "However, we did not just make this change without doing our homework first. We have recently completed a market study on a number of issues regarding the public's perception of the team and the fan experience. Based on the results of that study, I feel that the move to Friday nights will be a good one for us."

The results from the market study showed that more than 60% of people in the area said that they were more likely or very likely to attend a Friday night game compared to a Saturday night game.

"The response wasn't a total surprise, "said Bawden. "But what our research indicates is that our number one competition isn't necessarily a specific entertainment option or event - our top challenge has been finding ways to interrupt whatever someone might already be doing on a Saturday afternoon or evening. We hope that moving to Friday evenings will move us to the top of most people's weekend schedule.

"I am concerned about our loyal fans who work second and third shift jobs, however. I know we'll lose some of them. I've got our front office staff hard at work lining up plenty of opportunities throughout the week for them to stay involved with the team."

The league plans to release the Steamwheelers schedule sometime in November. Home games are currently planned for a 7:30 kickoff, on Friday's, at The MARK of the Quad Cities. For 8-game ticket package information call (563) 324-4888 or visit www.tickets.steamwheelers.com.
