Quad City Steamwheelers News Release

(Davenport, IA) - The Quad City Steamwheelers announced today that head coach Sean Ponder has added Ed Flanagan and Shon King to the Steamwheelers coaching staff.

"Right now I just can't wait to get out on the field," said Ponder. "These two will be great additions to our coaching staff. It isn't every day that players at this level can learn the game from a former NFL Pro-bowler and also one of the best players to ever play in the af2."

The team is proud to introduce NFL veteran lineman, Ed Flanagan. Flanagan has over 10 years of coaching experience along with 12 years of playing experience in the NFL with the Detroit Lions and the San Diego Chargers. Most recently, Flanagan served as the line coach for the Arizona Rattlers of the Arena Football League. He will continue working with the line players for the Steamwheelers. The four-time NFL Pro-Bowler has coached with Ponder with the San Diego Riptide in 2005.

The Steamwheelers also welcome back Shon King, a former Steamwheelers standout, who will be making his debut in the coaching ranks working with the Steamwheelers wide receivers. King played for one season in Quad City, during the Steamwheeler's inaugural season, yet he is ranked first all-time for the Steamwheelers in average yards per game (116.1) and fifth all-time in touchdown receptions (39).
