(Wilkes-Barre, PA) The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers held their first open tryout for the 2007 season on Sunday November 5, 2006 at the Wyoming Valley Sports Dome. A total of 40 athletes competed in various tests and drills to showcase their athletic abilities to Pioneers' Head Coach Rich Ingold.
The players were tested in the 40-yard dash, 20-yard shuttle, and different passing drills to highlight both individual and group skills. Pioneers' players, Kelvin Robinson and Yaacov Yisrael, attended to assist in the tryout. Doug Harding and David Davis also stopped by to view the new prospects.
"I was very pleased with the caliber of the players that tried out. We had some guys running 4.5 in the 40-yard dash and we also have three excellent kicking prospects. We look to sign four guys from this tryout," stated Coach Ingold.
