Quad City Steamwheelers News Release

DAVENPORT, Iowa — The Quad City Steamwheelers are slowly starting to get healthy, much to the pleasure of coach Rich Ingold. Topping the list of numerous roster moves made on Tuesday was the return of fullback/linebacker Brian Berg.

Berg is returning to action this weekend, after spending the past four weeks on the long-term injured reserve list due to a tear in his medial collateral ligament. Berg suffered the injury on the third play of the game on the road against the San Diego Riptide on May 22.

Prior to the injury, Berg had rushed for 49 yards and a pair of touchdowns on offense and added 12 tackles, three for a loss, three sacks, five quarterback hurries and a forced fumble on defense. Berg will look to add to those numbers this weekend when the ‘Wheelers travel to Arkansas to take on the Twisters this Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

Also returning for the Arkansas game will be defensive specialist Chazz Moore. Moore was assigned to the Steamwheelers by the league office from re-assignment. Through nine games with the Steamwheelers this season, Moore is fourth on the team in tackles with 25.5, including an assisted tackle for a loss. He has three interceptions, two of which came at Louisville where he earned ADT Defensive Player of the Game honors. He has five pass deflections and a fumble recovery.

Offensive lineman/defensive lineman Harvie Herrington was set to come off the short-term injured reserve list, but he has not fully recovered from a shoulder injury and was placed on the long-term injured reserve list to allow time for the shoulder to fully heal.

Defensive specialist Danny Thomas was banged up in last weekend's 63-52 come from behind victory over the Green Bay Blizzard and was placed on the short-term injured reserve list.

Also, to make room for the return of Berg, fullback/linebacker Nick Cosentino was reassigned to the league office on Tuesday. Cosentino made the trip to Green Bay, but saw limited action in the game.

The Steamwheelers will depart at midnight tonight for Little Rock, Ark., for a rematch of last season's ArenaCup quarterfinal game, which the Twisters won 63-61 on the game's final play. The game will be broadcast live on the Steamwheelers Radio Network on FOX Sports Radio AM 1230 and KWPC AM 860. The pre-game show starts at 7 p.m. with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m.
