Old face returns to the Fire

The Louisville Fire football team added a new member to its roster this week. Jabir Walker may be new this season but is returning to the Fire after playing the inaugural season in 2001. Walker, a former Murray State standout, will be returning to Louisville after playing the past two seasons for the Saskatchewan Rough Riders of the Canadian Football League.

"I'm excited about the opportunity to return to the Louisville Fire," said Walker, "I'm hoping I can help the team continue with their plans to win the championship."

Walker currently holds Fire records for most tackles in a season (79) and most pass deflections in a season (42). Walker also is second with most interceptions in a season with seven.

Walker, a 5'10 180 pound Defensive Specialist, will be an asset to the team. "Jabir has experience in arena football. He can cover the middle and the backside," commented Fire Head Coach Tommy Johnson, "He will shore up some things for us defensively."

Walker and the Fire will head to Manchester to take on the Wolves Friday night. You can catch all the action on 1080-AM WKJK starting at 7:30 p.m. The Fire will return home after a bye week on July 10 to take on the Columbus Wardogs at 7:30 p.m., the first 1,000 fans will receive a Louisville Fire hat courtesy of Wolford Printing.
