
Steamers Announce Home Run Derby

EDENTON, N.C - The Edenton Steamers of the Coastal Plain League announce today that they will host a Home Run Derby at Historic Hicks Field on Wednesday, July 31st with Edenton Steamers as the participants.
Six yet to be determined Edenton Steamers will participate in the first team home run derby contest ever held at Historic Hicks Field. Gates will open at 7 p.m. with the derby beginning at 8 p.m. Donations will be accepted at the gate for admission to the event and the concession stand will be open throughout the contest.
The derby will be structured much the same way the Major League Baseball home run derby is, with each participant getting 10 outs per round with any swing that does not result in a home run as an out. After the first round is completed the top four will advance and following the second round the top two hitters will advance into the championship round.
