Stealth upend Mammoth
January 14, 2006 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Colorado Mammoth News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. - One day after stifling the San Jose Stealth in a victory at Pepsi Center the Colorado Mammoth was shut down in the second game of the teams' weekend home-and-home-series.
Stealth goaltender Anthony Cosmo made 51 saves and Jeff Zywicki tallied three goals and two assists to lead San Jose to a 10-7 victory over the Mammoth at the HP Pavilion on Saturday night.
Mammoth goaltender Gee Nash played his second strong game in as many nights, but took the loss in net despite making 61 saves.
The Mammoth led 3-0 and 4-2 in the first half but could not withstand the continual offensive pressure of the Stealth, which was playing its home opener. Forward Dan Stroup, who was a healthy scratch in Friday's game, responded by leading the Mammoth with three goals. Rookie Dan Carey continued his career-opening scoring streak with two goals and added two assists. Captain Gavin Prout's five assists tied him with Zywicki for a game-high five points.
