Staten Island Yankees News Release
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.-The Staten Island Yankees defeated the Tri-City ValleyCats 5-2 to take two out of three games in this midweek series.
The Yankees (11-7) got early offense on an RBI single from Jose Villa who drove in his first run with Staten Island this season.
That run was supported by great pitching from Jake Agnos who made his debut with the team and threw three shutout innings. Abismael Villaman would then pick it up from there and throw five shoutout innings in the bullpen. Rodney Hutchison would give up the two runs in the ninth, but closed out the win.
Staten Island would add on to their lead in the fourth inning as Luis Santos hit a two-run home run which marked his first hit, RBIs and home run with the team all in one swing of the bat.
The Yankees would add two more in the eighth on a two-run RBI single by Carlos Narvaez with the bases loaded to make it 5-0.
Staten Island hits the road for the next three games as they travel to Lowell to take on the Spinners during the July 4 weekend. The Baby Bombers return to Staten Island on July 7 when the Connecticut Tigers come in for a three-game set.
