Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings News Release
"Despite a report to the contrary yesterday, Laredo Broncos designated hitter Jose Canseco will not be in uniform for the remainder of this week's series with the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings at Harlingen Field. Canseco will rejoin the Broncos on Saturday in Laredo for the final three regular season games and for the playoffs.
"Canseco had to leave the team due to a commitment unrelated to baseball that was scheduled before he signed with the Broncos.
"I want to personally apologize for the confusion in this matter. I would also like to thank the fans of Harlingen and Edinburg for turning out in big numbers over the last five days to watch Canseco play. It was a truly special experience. I would also like to encourage the fans in Harlingen to continue to come out to the WhiteWings' remaining home games this week. They have a lot of great promotions planned and I guarantee a good time will be had by all."
