-SPIKES START SHORT ROAD JAUNT TONIGHT: The State College Spikes start a three-game series with the Hudson Valley Renegades tonight at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill, NY. The Spikes are coming off of a 4-3 homestand, and play their second straight McNamara Division opponent. State College is 2-10 this year against teams outside the Pinckney Division, and 3-5 all-time against the Renegades.

-LAST NIGHT: The Spikes broke through for nine runs on nine hits to beat the Aberdeen IronBirds last night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, 9-5. Evan Chambers delivered his second home run of the year and four RBI in the game, while Aaron Baker went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and two RBI. Tyler Cox went 5 2/3 innings and kept the IronBirds off the board from the fourth to eighth innings to earn his team-leading fifth victory of the year. The Spikes snapped a seven-game slide against Aberdeen that stretched back to 2007.

-SPIKES SEND ERICKSON TO MOUND: Right-hander Jason Erickson makes his fifth start and 11th overall appearance for the Spikes tonight as he takes the ball. Erickson has struck out 26 and walked only five on the season. In his last outing, Erickson came on in relief and threw four innings of shutout ball against Jamestown five nights ago at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

-RENEGADES GO WITH LOBSTEIN: Lefty Kyle Lobstein will go to the hill for Hudson Valley tonight. Lobstein was named the 11th best prospect in the Rays' system by Baseball America entering the 2009 season, and was the Rays' second round draft pick in 2008 out of Coconino High School in Flagstaff, AZ.

-SPIKES WELCOME NEW FACE: Infielder Deybis Benitez joins the team today after being traded from the Mariners organization for RHP Mike Koplove. Benitez was most recently playing for Everett in the Short-Season Single-A Northwest League, and hit .231 with 2 runs batted in four games. The 22-year old Dominican also played at Class-A Advanced High Desert this year, hitting .400 over eight games. Infielder Carlos Silva was placed on the DL to make room.
