-SPIKES HIT THE ROAD FOR THREE IN BATAVIA: After their first off day of the 2014 season, the State College Spikes start a three-game road series at Dwyer Stadium tonight against the Batavia Muckdogs. The Spikes and the Muckdogs are tied atop the New York-Penn League's Pinckney Division through 17 games, and meet for their third series within the season's first three weeks. After the completion of this series, State College and Batavia are not scheduled to meet again until Augsut 29-30 at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The Spikes won a pair of games at Dwyer Stadium two weekends ago, and lead the season series, 3-2. Batavia holds the advantage in the all-time series, 43-42, and has won 22 of 41 meetings at Dwyer Stadium.

-LAST NIGHT: Will Anderson became the first State College Spikes pitcher ever to strike out 10 batters in a single game, and the Spikes won a battle of specialty jerseys over the Williamsport Crosscutters, 5-0, on Sunday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

Anderson went seven innings on the mound to begin State College's shutout effort. The right-hander allowed just three hits during his time on the mound, and did not walk a batter in earning the victory. Anderson's 10 strikeouts broke the previous Spikes record of nine shared by eight different pitchers. Jacob Booden and Josh Lucas each pitched a perfect inning to finish the shutout.

The Spikes were wearing their "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air"-inspired jerseys for a Jersey-off-the-Back Auction presented by PSECU to benefit Children's Miracle Network in front of a home crowd of 4,829 fans.

Rowan Wick collected two more runs batted in with a single in the first to up his season total to 21. Wick ended the game 2-for-4 with a double to increase his batting average to .407 on the year.

-PEREZ GETS START FOR SPIKES: Left-hander Dewin Perez gets the nod for the Spikes coming out of the off day. Perez is making his team-leading fourth start of the year, and his second on the road. The Cartagena, Colombia native threw five shutout frames at Williamsport on Opening Night in his only other road outing. Perez made the jump up the ladder from the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League Cardinals, where he played in 2013. Last year, the southpaw went 2-4 with a 3.23 ERA in 11 GCL appearances, seven of them starts. Perez also holds a streak of 347 straight batters without giving up a home run, dating back to his very first pro appearance with the Dominican Summer League Cardinals in 2012.

-MUCKDOGS GO WITH CASTELLANOS: Left-hander Gabriel Castellanos makes the start for Batavia tonight, his fourth of the season. Castellanos has allowed three earned runs in each of his last two starts, and walked seven batters over 3 1/3 innings at home against Mahoning Valley on June 20. The Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic native has struck out 13 batters and walked 13 over his first three starts. Opposing hitters hold just a .195 average against him this season.

-WICK IT...WICK IT REAL GOOD : Rowan Wick has continued his torrid start the 2014 season Wick's ten homers have already tied him for the franchise single-season record with just 17 games gone on th eyear, and he has at least one homer in every Spikes series. The North Vancouver, BC native is currently bidding for the NYPL's Triple Crown, as he is tied for the league lead with 21 RBI, and his .407 batting average is second only to Connecticut's Michael Gerber.

-SPIKE MARKS: The Spikes and Crosscutters engaged in a "#UniBattle" last night, as while the Spikes wore their special "Fresh Prince of Bel Air"-inspired jerseys to be auctioned off to benefit Children's Miracle Network, and the Crosscutters donned their special "ugly Christmas sweater" jerseys...The 'Cutters will also wear the jerseys on August 2 to benefit Toys for Tots...Fernando Baez has allowed just a .043 batting average to opposing hitters this year, the second-best mark among New York-Penn League relievers, but now moves into the Spikes starting rotation...Infielder Darren Seferina was added to the Spikes' roster yesterday after initially being placed on the GCL Cardinals roster...Seferina is the Cardinals' fifth-round draft choice this year out of Miami-Dade College, and went 2-for-4 with two runs and two stolen bases last night
